Frequently Asked Questions
  • Do you have a cancellation policy?

I require 24 hours notice if you will be unable to make your session. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will still be charged for the time.

  • How does this work?

I like to have some time to observe you with your children; this way I can get a clearer picture of what’s going on with your family.  We will then sit down together and decide on goals.  As we work towards those goals, we will be continually evaluating the work so we can determine when goals are met.  If we find ourselves having trouble reaching a goal, we can sit down and talk about what’s not working and find a solution that will work to reach this goal effectively.

  • Are services confidential just like counseling is?

Yes. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I am proud to adhere to and uphold all practices and standards set forth in the Code of Conduct by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners.

  • Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance. Insurance companies require that clinicians diagnose their clients with a mental illness or personality disorder in order to receive payment. I don’t believe that a parent wanting help with his or her parenting necessitates a diagnosis. A benefit to this is that there will be no diagnosis put in the medical records of you or your children.

  • I'm having difficulties with my ex regarding our visitation schedule. Can you help?

I am definitely familiar with the challenges that divorced parents face. It can be helpful to have someone who can be a neutral party to help establish a co-parenting routine that works for everyone.

  • Can you work with me if I'm still in the process of getting a divorce?

While I do not provide or make custody evaluations, I am happy to work with families that are currently involved in litigation if there is a Guardian ad Litem involved.

  • I've tried counseling before with no results, how would this be different?

Since counseling is usually only one hour a week and parenting is around the clock, it makes sense that a parent has more influence over his or her children’s behavior and well-being than a counselor. What I want to do is give the parent the tools needed to make the changes in your family, rather than try to make the changes myself. When a parent is able to make these changes in the household, results are longer lasting.

  • My partner and I often disagree over parenting issues. Can you help with this?

If possible, I would like to work with both parents in order to determine where the differences and similarities are in order to bring both parents together to a resolution that both can be happy with.

  • Do your services include how to prepare for a new baby?

Definitely!  I can work with you and your partner if this is your first child, or provide support and offer strategies to ease the transition if you have older children.
